The Services Sector Education and Training Authority (Services SETA) invites proposals for Special Projects that go beyond core training initiatives to deliver significant social impact, support national priorities, and foster innovation. This funding opportunity seeks to identify transformative projects that align with Services SETA’s goals of socio-economic transformation, inclusivity, and innovation while addressing critical national priorities.

Empower youth, women, persons with disabilities, and communities in rural and township areas through impactful skills development initiatives.

Promote inclusive economic participation and foster job creation by addressing critical skills gaps.

Encourage new and effective solutions that elevate industry standards and address pressing community challenges.

Submission Guidelines

To be considered for funding, applicants must submit the following:

Completed Application Form:

Available on the Services SETA website.

Project Concept Document

Provide a detailed narrative of the project, including its objectives, key activities, and alignment with national and organisational priorities.

Detailed Budget

Include a clear breakdown of costs and justifications.

Project Implementation Plan:

Outline timelines, key milestones, and expected deliverables.

Project Team Details

Provide the roles, relevant experience, and qualifications of team members.

Demonstration of Project Impact

Show measurable social, economic, and environmental benefits.
All proposals must adhere to Services SETA’s principles of transparency, accountability, and inclusivity.

Criteria for Evaluation

Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
Social Impact: Demonstrate measurable benefits for underserved communities, including rural and township populations, youth, women, and persons with disabilities.
Innovation: Present unique, forward-thinking approaches to skills development, entrepreneurship, community development, job creation, and poverty alleviation.
Feasibility and Management: Provide a clear, actionable project plan, including implementation timelines, detailed budget, and an exit strategy that ensures long-term sustainability.
Project Impact: Highlight the potential social, economic, and environmental outcomes of the project, ensuring alignment with Services SETA’s goals and national priorities.
Demonstration of Project Impact Show measurable social, economic, and environmental benefits.

Eligible Applicants

Applications are open to the following entities:
Non-Governmental Organisations, Non-Profit Organisations, Community-Based Organisations, and Non-Profit Companies
  • Committed to social impact and transformation.

Public Education and Training Institutions, Government Entities, and Strategic Partners:
  • Including private skills development providers aligned with Services SETA’s objectives.
Professional Bodies, Federations, and Trade Unions:
  • Representing specific industries and sectors with a focus on addressing skills development and transformation.

• Address critical skills shortages and support economic recovery through targeted training initiatives.

• Promote entrepreneurship and small business development, particularly in the township economy and other underserved areas.

Environmental Impact

• Implement sustainable practices, green initiatives, and innovative waste management solutions to address climate challenges.

• Align with environmental priorities such as renewable energy, recycling, and conservation.
